Los Quetzales Mexican Dance Ensemble, founded in Arlington, VA in 1998, by its Executive and Artistic Director, Laura Ortiz.
Los Quetzales is supported in part by Arlington County, Arlington Economic Developement Cultural Affairs, and by the Arlington Commission for the Arts.
Los Quetzales collaborates with local Arlington County supported groups, performing and participating in various events thorugh the year, such as International Festivals, Hispanic Heritage Month Celebrations, Arlington County Schools, and Festilvals, and Schools and Parish festivals.
Los Quetzales presents two dance concerts per year, accompanied by live music. These theatre programs bring our communities together, to celebrate the festive, colorful, and diverse music and dance of Mexico.
The company has gained for the past 25 years, the reputation of being 'Northern Virginia's Leading Performing Company of Mexican Folkore.'

The company presents an annual theater dance concert with live music in mid October. Representing the diverse cultural traditions of Mexico's 31 states, from the Jaranas of the Yucatan Peninsula to the Polkas and Shotizes of Chihuahua and other Northern states. The theatre programs are accompanied by live music with professional artists muscicians from Mexico and the US.

Dance classes year round ~ Become great Performers Call for available Class SCHEDULEs
These classes do not require previous dance experience. Students will learn footwork-rhythmic patters, along with the basic dances of some regions. Mexican folk dance techniques are implemented in a similar way to
basic ballet. Mexican folkloric footwork, and dance techniques per regions. Students will learn dances of several states, and (or) diverse styles with choreography.
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED FOR the advance level DANCE classes saturdays 12:00 pm to 1:00 pM please call for information and space availability
Technical footwork, quality, precision and sync of rhythmic patterns are the focus of this class. Skill developement will increase as the dancers are taught more complex, diverse dance styles of various regions of Mexico. Class is advanced level and it requires previous experience, discipline, desire to learn, exercise level is high, but class is also fun. Mexican Folklore is culturally rich, varied, and energetic. Students will gain greater technical skills, and dance abilities, along with learning various stage choreographies.
Intermediate level class FRIDAYS 7:00 TO 8:00 PM please call for information and space availability
This class require some previous dance experience -- consistency is the key. Attending class on a regular basis is essential to advance to the next level. Students will learn several traditional dances of various states as well as diverse dance styles. They will also develop technical footwork skills and sync of rhythmic patterns. Students will learn about the various cultural influences of each region, join us to learn more.
